INSTRUCTORS: Kandi Comer

Kandi Comer has been mentoring players of all skill levels by providing them with a firm knowledge of the basic fundamentals of the game, with a special emphasis on  the short game and course management. Evidenced by her being recognized four straight years by Golf For Women as a Top 50 Teaching Professional, and nominated  several times for Golf Digest’s Top 100, she brings to her teaching the lessons learned from some excellent mentors, including the late Davis Love, Jr. Kandi has  extended her knowledge of psychology by working with noted sports psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella, and applies that to her work as a golf instructor.

She became the instructor of the LPGA Tour star Dottie Pepper, winner of 17 tour events, including two majors and has coached Leah Wigger while she successfully  earned her LPGA credentials. Kandi continues to give her attention to developing up-and-coming talent.  Kandi has sent 30+ juniors on to play college golf.   She has had players compete in the USGA Juniors, USGA Amateur, USGA Mid-Amateur and the USGA Open.  She has developed players to win junior championships, college championships, amateur championships and to win at the professional level.  Her proven record speaks for itself and she truly loves developing golfers to be the best they can be.

She was selected as the 2005 PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year. Thanks to her outstanding record of success, Kandi is now recognized as one of the finest teachers in the game today and recently was named US Kids Top 50 Junior Instructors.

Kandi developed into one of the finest amateur golfers in the country, culminating in her selection to the U.S. team for the 1986 Curtis Cup. As a professional golfer, Kandi qualified for five U.S. Opens finishing in the top 15 in the 1987 event.

Kandi is a certified Redcord and K-Vest instructor.

Claudia Ferrini

A native of Lima, Peru, Claudia played college golf at the University of New Mexico where she gained All-Conference honors in 2000 and 2002, as well as a B. A. in  Economics. As the 2000, 2002 and 2003 Peruvian National Champion and the 1996 and ’97 South American Team Champion, she became, in 2004, the first woman  Head Professional in the history of Peruvian golf at the Country Club La Planicie, a position she held until 2007.

Claudia joined the Kandi Comer Golf staff in 2008 and since then she has been helping golfers of different skills levels and various ages.

Teaching is her passion and those that have had the opportunity to work with her, love her style and approach to teaching. She is an LPGA Classs A Professional.

Arthur Weltman, Ph.D. – Fitness Specialist

Dr. Arthur Weltman serves on the North American Science Advisory Board for Redcord.  Dr. Weltman is a  Professor in  the  Department of Human Services and Professor in the Department of  Medicine at the University  of Virginia.  He is  also a member of the University of Virginia Institute on Aging  Advisory Board and is the  Director of the  Exercise Physiology Graduate Program and Director of the General  Clinical Research Center  Exercise  Physiology Laboratory (the first GCRC based Exercise Physiology  Laboratory).

His research laboratory has made major contributions in the areas of fitness and health, the blood lactate  response to exercise, hormonal response to acute and chronic exercise (particularly the growth hormone  response to exercise), and in the area of lifestyle intervention on outcomes measures associated with cardiometabolic risk.

He is the Exercise Physiology Scientific Advisor for the University of Virginia Athletic Department and has served on numerous health and fitness advisory boards in the United States.

Dr. Weltman has had proven success using Redcord for LPGA players, top collegiate players and players of all ages and all abilities that are generally just looking to hit the golf ball further.
